(The content below was transcribed from an interview done with Acacia Law. We think you'll find it much easier
and more enjoyable to read this way.)
Interviewer: What types of people are charged with DUI? Is it older people or primarily younger people?
Acacia Law: Everybody. It is a crime that cuts across the social spectrum. I have clients that include teenagers who are just learning how to drive, all the way up through people who are retired. When I say ‘social’ I mean the economic spectrum too. These are people who are good, hard working, blue-collar, white-collar individuals all the way up to bankers, doctors, presidents, and other lawyers. I believe George W. Bush was convicted of a DUI at one point. Not while he was president though. It’s not a crime that is specific to any sociological factors; everybody who operates a motor vehicle is susceptible to it. I’ve represented professionals, celebrities, just about any one you can imagine.
Interviewer: Have you ever represented attorneys or court personnel themselves?
Acacia Law: That I can’t really get into, but yes, I have represented those who remain confidential. The best way to tell you is anyone who operates a motor vehicle is susceptible.
